Mahon Fox Experienced Architects and Consulting Engineer

Team

Of principal importance, Mahon & Fox’s greatest asset is its team – the people who make Mahon & Fox

Above all other areas, in terms of building the company, this has been the primary focus of management attention. We pride ourselves in commanding a relatively low turnover of personnel, with most of the current team having been with us for several years at this juncture – this fits with our philosophy of being able to provide a stable and solid service, along with offering continuity from our clients’ point of view.

Our multi-disciplinary staff have attained accreditation from various professional bodies including the RIAI, Engineers Ireland and CIAT. We are actively committed to ongoing accreditation/professional development.

Since qualifying from UCC in 1987 with an honours degree in Civil Engineering, John has pursued his professional development to the highest level of accreditation (i.e. that of Fellow, Engineers Ireland). As a Chartered Engineer, John has been actively fulfilling the role of Assigned Certifier on numerous projects since implementation of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations on 1st March 2014.
His work experience encompasses a huge diversity of project types, from hospitals & schools to aircraft hangars to racecourse development to mention but a few. He has covered the commercial, retail, industrial, residential and restoration sectors, on projects ranging in budget from €10K – €90M.
One particularly relevant area of his expertise includes the conservation of Religious Buildings/Protected Structures; recently John has headed up a multi-disciplinary team on the near €1M refurbishment of St. Michael’s Church in Gorey (1839), designed by A.W.N. Pugin and much revered in Conservation terms.
In terms of energy efficiency/sustainable development, he was among the first candidates in the country to become fully qualified and registered as a Building Energy Rating Assessor which is hugely relevant in the modern era where nZEB standard buildings are now a regulatory reality.
