Jonathan J. Murphy MRIAI

Director

Jonathan is an RIAI registered Architect who became a company director in 2019. He began his caeer with Mahon | Fox Architects in 2003 before leving the company in 2009 to pursue his Masters in Architecture, graduating from UCD in 2015.

As a project architect and design team lead he has the responsibility of coordinating the office design team, external design team consultants and contractors onsite, while working with clients to both meet and exceed their specific requirements. Jonathan’s combined skills as architect and architectural technologist helps drive projects forward through all stages form concept to completion. He also holds an RIAI Accreditation as PSDP in Health & Safety

Jonathan has worked on substantial private residences, social housing developments, bespoke high value housing developments, commercial fit outs, public buildings and historic protected structures. Jonathan has a keen interest in the area of conservation, becoming a Grade 3 RIAI accredited Conservation Architect in 2021 and continues to build on experience gained while working at one of Ireland’s leading design and conservation practices.

Shane Maguire MRIAI

Director

Shane is an RIAI registered Architect who re-joined the practice in 2017 before becoming company director in 2021. He began his career with Mahon | Fox Architects in 2003 before leaving to study architecture at Glasgow School of Art.

Shane brings a considerable artistic and creative flair to the overall Mahon | Fox Architects operation. Drawing on over a decade of professional experience both here in Ireland and overseas, he performs research, conceptual and general technical duties and possesses a particular talent for visualization which is such an essential attribute for the creative aspect of bespoke conceptual design. One of Shane’s core strengths is his belief in good design that is thoughtful and considerate to its site and context while fulfilling the particular requirements of the project brief.

In 2024 Shane became a Grade 3 RIAI accredited Conservation Architect building upon Mahon | Fox Architect’s strong belief in the importance of conservation work

Kevin Tyrrell

Associate
Dip Arch Tech

Architectural Technologist qualified in 1996, who has been with Mahon | Fox Architects since 1997. Throughout this long-standing position he has acquired experience across the broad spectrum of technical practice and has built up a wealth of knowledge in the field of large-scale residential developments, commercial buildings, Fire Safety and Disability Access certification, complemented with particular skills in the area of mappings and liaison with the legal fraternity and PRAI (Land Registry) alike. Kevin’s excellent all-round technical abilities make him a competent contributor in all aspects of project design and management.

Billy Stafford

Architectural & BIM Technologist
BSc. Arch & BIM Tech

Billy’s early career was spent working predominantly as a site foreman on projects across the country in multiple sectors including residential, medical and civic. In 2015, after obtaining a BSc. Hons in Architectural & BIM Tech from Waterford I.T. Billy joined Winthrop Engineering. While there he was involved in a variety of projects as a BIM Engineer and BIM Manager for clients such as Bausch & Lomb, Glanbia, GSK and Sanofi.

In 2018 Billy joined the Timber Frame Company as a Technologist and Installation manager where he gained an in-depth knowledge of timber-frame construction. He was involved in the design of timber-frame buildings ranging from one-off houses to estates, shopping centers and civic buildings.

Billy moved to Mahon | Fox Architects in 2022 where his previous site based experience combined with his professional experience make him a valuable addition to the team

Ben Powell

Graduate Architect

Ben joined Mahon | Fox Architects in 2023 after obtaining a Masters in Architecture from University College Dublin in 2022. His studies focused on the sustainable reuse of the existing built fabric and the benefits this can have on surrounding communities. Ben spent part of his Masters degree studying in New Zealand at the University of Auckland focusing on the incorporation of Maori design approaches into contemporary projects.

Since joining Mahon | Fox Architects Ben has been involved in a wide array of projects ranging from small scale residential work to larger scale projects in the commercial and healthcare sectors. He has also become a key part of much of the conservation work in the practice including undertaking detailed measured and photographic surveys of a number of prominent protected structures across Co. Wexford.
